Replaced a cheap old ceiling fan in our bedroom with this unit. Even though this is listed as a "wet/damp" location fan, it can be installed indoors. Fan seems to be of good quality...it's very quiet, looks good, and moves a respectable amount of air. The "dark maple" blades are actually plastic with a faux wood finish, but it's quite believable and doesn't detract visually from the fan.The total time necessary to remove the old fan and install the new one was about 90 minutes. There are some discrepancies in the installation guide though...the number of screws that hold the fan body to the ceiling bracket is wrong, it doesn't show how to install some screws that have rubber washers on them, and the manual incorrectly states that there's a ground wire coming from the fan that needs to be connected to the household wiring's ground. This could easily trip up somebody who doesn't have a lot of experience installing such things. The unit also uses a tiny 100W halogen bulb (about the size of the upper two segments of your pinky) which puts out a LOT of heat. It would be nice if they redesigned their fans to use a much more efficient CFL or LED bulb. The permanently wall-mounted controls use some sort of over-the-air transmission to control the fan...it's not done through household wiring. The fan & light controls work well enough, but the control module is quite large, and was a tight fit in the smaller-than-usual switch box in our old house. There's a tiny on-off switch at the bottom that turns the whole unit on and off, but it's difficult to use and only lights up when ON (which makes it hard to find when walking into a dark room and is unnecessarily annoying when trying to sleep). I'm going to put the old light switch back in, and buy a portable remote control for the fan instead. The fan remembers its last settings when you cut power to it, so everything should work fine when I flip the switch. But overall, a nice fan and a definite improvement over what we had before. It looks better than I could have hoped and is quiet which is such a relief. It's not soundless, but what fan is? I now want to replace all my ceiling fans with this one! My one huge complaint is the LED light in the wall controller. It's blue, bright as day and awful. I can't find a way to turn the light off without turning off the whole wall controller. The glow from the wall controller LED is bright enough to make it difficult to sleep at night. Quite frustrating. Another thing to note is since I live in an older house I had to replace my light switch box with a larger one so that the wall unit would fit. Not a big deal to me, but might be to someone else.Purchased two for our screened in porch. Looks really nice, we needed two smaller size outdoor fans no more than 12 inches from the ceiling. Remotes had to be purchased separately, for the price I thought they would be included. We did not install, contractor installed it. They work well and look great even though I think they were overpriced. But we had limitations based on a low hanging ceiling and limited space. We are pleased with our purchase and would make the same buy again.Would have given 5 stars but light switch is so hard to engage on wall. Poor design of sliding on/ off hard to engage. Push button memory confusing although well intended. Very quiet fan sleek design exceptional mechanical performance. Maybe needs remote that will ease pain of engaging fan. Lights only lasted one month had to replace bulbs. Company warranted bulb so stuff happens but it took couple emails to convince them to.This is the second MinkaAire fan I bought. The first one was installed in my bedroom. It is so quiet and gives a very good airflow. So we decided to buy another MinkaAire for the guest bedroom. This one came with the wall control which is nice. I don't care for all these remotes lying around to get lost. The wall control is very easy to use. I love this fan because it runs so quietly you can hardly hear that it is on and how easy it is to wipe clean. Can't go wrong with this fan. Would highly recommend. Planning on getting a third one for another bedroom.I own 2. Looks good, installation is easy, but audible motor hum and one makes a slight rubbing noise. Not so loud that I'll return, but not up to snuff- I own a 3rd by Minka- a different model, and it has provided many hears of whisper quiet operation- a big deal to me.A beautiful fan that bridges traditional with contemporary style. The single halogen 100W light is much brighter than the 2 incandescent in my old fan. Quiet until after the first night. Now I think it has slight shaft bearing noise.I bought 5 of these fans and had them installed by an electrician. The reason I don't like these fans are (1) they do not move enough air, and (2) the light is not sufficient to adequately illuminate even a 12' by 12' room. These fans replaced Harbor Breeze brand fans that had three tulip light bulbs. The Harbor Breeze fans moved a lot of air, provided a lot of light, and ran 24 hours a day for more than a decade with no problems. These fans literally rarely even cause a piece of paper to flutter from their breeze. It is as if these fans are not moving any air at all.
